Opening Gala
Sunday, 5. September 2010, Park Hotel Ahrensburg

A specially created gala menu of five courses demonstrating the different cuisine style and culinary skills of the celebrity chefs will generate excitement and be the talk-of-town. The opening of the 24th Schleswig-Holstein Gourmet Festival on 5th September 2010 is the most important date in the town’s culinary calendar, when 4 stars will shine bright above Ahrensburg – and for the first time, also a talented young chef from Schleswig-Holstein will create magic.
Two-starred chef Wolfgang Becker comes from Design Hotel Becker’s in Trier and has the farthest way to travel. The winegrower and hotelier is committed to clear strong lines and purism. His subtly seasoned, contemporary culinary creations are surprisingly and delightfully unpretentious. www.beckers-trier.de
Since 2003, elite chef Thomas Kammeier has virtuously played the culinary keyboard, whether regional or haute cuisine, in Restaurant Hugos (InterContinental Berlin) and has been awarded 17 Gault Millau Points. www.hugos-restaurant.de
Ali Güngörmüs owns Restaurant Le Canard Nouveau in Hamburg and has his debut at this Gourmet Festival. The star chef comes from Turkey and superbly combines the French and Mediterranean cuisine with oriental accents from his native country. www.lecanard-hamburg.de
Schleswig-Holstein’s Youth Award-winner Jan Michael Stümpert is very much looking forward to participating in the 24th Opening Gala. The apprentice of Robert Stolz in Plön also convinced the ‘Contest Chef-Sache’ jury 2009 with his filigree vegetable creation.

The price of the Opening Gala amounts to 135 Euro
including a specially created menu of five courses paired with wines and drinks.
